“In order to discover new lands, one must be willing to lose sight of the shore for a very long time” – Andre Gide
Why do so many of us never even consider the alternative exercise options that are right under our noses?
Open your mind to new possibilities. We don’t need to spend hundreds on a gym membership when we can get a superior workout in for half the price without leaving the comfort and privacy of our homes. A sustainable lifestyle may be much more cost-effective than you think.
The current pandemic has demonstrated to us that gym membership and availability isn’t something that is perpetually available to us. This has made many of us challenge our assumptions about the need for a gym membership. Could there be other ways to do it?
There are 2 areas in which a calisthenics home gym benefits it’s users: cost and privacy.
As many of us know all too well, the cost of gym membership is often astronomical and is only increasing in price as the years roll on. The more you think about it, the more insane it seems that we spend so much money on these when we could build our own with minimalist fitness equipment for less than the price of a year-long membership that will last us for 5+ years. This accumulation of money spent starts to get ridiculous when we think in terms of how many years we spend paying gym memberships.
Retailers of online gym equipment have an obligation to say something. It isn’t right how much so many of us blindly spend on gym memberships in the name of fitness. Since when was good health related to how much we can spend on our training?
We want to bring training back to the way it used to be, the way it should be. This involves using minimal equipment and training at home or outdoors. Bodyweight home training is how our ancestors trained for thousands of years, so they were obviously doing something right. Do you think your great great granny had bench press machines and ellipticals?
No, they more than likely had small, natural pieces of calisthenics equipment for minimalist training. And how much did they spend on their fitness regimes? Zilch.
Another thing we disliked was how pretentious and vain gyms can be. Many people go to gyms to see and be seen, rather than to actually focus on improving their health. Of course, this is fine if that’s what you really care about, but I think most people genuinely concerned with their personal health and fitness would roll their eyes.
Luckily, building a home gym avoids all of this. Privacy while training is always something our team have loved here at TrainPUREFitness. We love to have the freedom to get comfortable and get weird with our training. It is not uncommon to see us training at home or outside with tops off and toes out. Naturally, just like how we love to do everything.
Building a calisthenics home gym with minimalist gym equipment may just be the best thing that has never happened to you. Imagine a future in which you could train wearing nothing but your underwear... that's a world I want to live in one day.
Luckily, for those of us committing to the sustainable living movement by training at home, that dream has become a reality. Join us.
